The work-around worked like a champ to let me download old version, EXCEPT when I try to open the app, it requires me to upgrade which of course I can't. As mentioned, not all apps offer older versions.

Although it did allow you to download an older version, the app developer does not want you to use it for one reason or another and has intentionally bricked it.
